Cory Booker lightens the mood
amid N.J. Devils feud with poetic words

NEWARK — Newark Mayor Cory Booker is so frustrated with the New Jersey Devils that he is moved to verse.
Booker used the announcement of the 2012 Dodge Poetry Festival’s return to Newark to recite a pair of poems he wrote last week, during his public feud with Devils owner Jeff Vanderbeek.
Booker told the crowd gathered at the New Jersey Performing Arts center that writing poetry "is a cathartic experience for me" — a line that got a hearty laugh. He then recited an untitled piece that, he said, "Anyone who reads the headlines will understand."
