Princeton, NJ - September 27th, 2010 - A collaborative exhibition, "Fragments of the Muse", between an award-winning Japanese painter, Ms. Minako Ota, and a Pushcart Prize-nominated Greek poet, Ms. Vasiliki Katsarou, will be on display and open to the public at Swan Creek Gallery (www.swancreekgallery.com), 34 West Main Street, Lambertville, NJ, from October 16 to December 28, 2010. Admission is free.
The opening reception will be at the Gallery on October 16th, 6-9 pm. Ms. Katsarou will be reading her poetry at 7:30 pm during the opening.
The theme of this collaborative project is the fleeting nature of inspiration. In art and in poetry, inspiration is with is us for only the briefest of moments - and then it's gone. We only catch a few fragments of the muse.
The painter and the poet come from widely diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Ms. Ota studied Japanese painting in Tokyo and has exhibited in Moscow, Paris and New York. Ms. Katsarou studied poetry at Harvard and worked as a filmmaker in France and Greece. She is currently the managing editor of Ragged Sky (www.raggedsky.com), a cooperative press in NJ dedicated to contemporary poetry. Together, they explore themes of creative inspiration, its origins, and the brevity of its visitation upon us.
