JOHN BARRALE was born in Manhattan’s lower east Side in 1949, and grew up there and in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated Richmond College (C.U.N.Y.) in 1971 with a B.A. in English Literature. Since 1978, John has lived and worked in New Jersey.. John says of himself: I travel extensively, am a student and aficionado of American popular culture especially that of the 1960’s, and a career civil servant – all things that though at odds seem to blend.
John’s poetry has been published in the Red Wheel Barrow Poets’ Anthologies Volumes I and II, Poetalk, the NJ Journal of Poets, and The Lullwater Review. He has work forthcoming in the next issue of California Quarterly. John frequently reads his poetry here at Piano’s and was the featured poet in May 2009. John also reads frequently at the William Carlos Williams Art Center, in Rutherford NJ, and was one of their featured poets in December 2009. He has also read at the Bowery Poetry Café, the Cornelia Street Café, the 2009 Poets and Writer’s Piazza at Hofstra University, and at the Classic Quiche Café’s North Jersey Literary Series.
