RIP Aeronwy Thomas
Wednesday August 5, 2009
We have just heard the sad news that Aeronwy Thomas, Dylan Thomas’ daughter, caretaker of his legacy, patron of the Dylan Thomas Society, and author of the Dylan Thomas walking tour of New York posted here at About.com Poetry, has died in London of leukemia at the age of 66. Aeronwy Thomas was not only an ambassador for her father’s work; she was a poet in her own right and a translator from Italian. Her memoir of growing up in a small village in Wales with her father and her mother, Caitlin McNamara, was just published this week by UK independent publisher Constable & Robinson: My Father’s Places.
Aeronwy Thomas held a workshop/reading as part of the Distinguished Poet Series at the Poetry Center in Paterson in April 2008.
